Der Cherubim Hymnus ist der wichtigste “Cherubikon” (d.h. Engelshymnus), welcher in jeder Göttlichen Liturgie des Jahres gesungen wird, mit Ausnahme der Liturgie am Gründonnerstag und Karsamstag. Nach der Evangeliumslesung und der darauffolgenden Ektenie wird er gesungen und erst mit dem “Großen Einzug” beendet. Der Cherubim Hymnus wurde auf Weisung hl. Kaisers Justinian ( 565, Gedenken 14.11) der Liturgie des hl. Johannes Chrysostomus beigefügt.
